The arithmetic most families do not run until they are already deciding.
A non-medical caregiver runs about $35 an hour at the national median: $24 an hour in Mississippi, $46 in Wyoming. Skilled nursing at home is closer to $90. Every other number here comes from that one.
A few mornings a week, twelve hours, is about $1,820 a month. The 44 hours a week the survey uses as its benchmark is about $6,670 a month, or $80,080 a year. Daytime cover every day is $152,880. Around the clock, priced at the same hourly rate, is $305,760.
Somewhere around 41 hours a week, call it six hours a day, paid help at home costs what assisted living does at $6,200 a month, and the facility rate includes the room and the meals while the house keeps costing whatever it costs. Past roughly 71 hours a week you are at the price of a private nursing home room, $10,798. Families cross those lines without noticing, because it arrives one added shift at a time.
Organizing any of it costs too. A care manager who coordinates appointments and paperwork runs $75 to $250 an hour: that is the person who arranges the care, not the person who gives it. A one-time professional home safety visit is commonly $150 to $300.

Rates vary widely by state and by agency, and by the time you read this. They are market rates, not SeniorThrive pricing and not savings. SeniorThrive organizes care, it does not deliver it, and it helps you find professional services when you want them.
How we estimate: app prices are the published consumer rates of comparable tools (typical, adjust to your situation). Time is estimated from typical coordination minutes per category. By default it is valued at $16.59/hr, the AARP 2023 estimate for the value of unpaid family caregiving in 2021 dollars, which is deliberately conservative: paid home care runs about $35 an hour nationally for an hour of the same work. Set your own rate and the figure uses that instead. Either way the value of your time is shown separately and is not money back in your pocket.
